Working in the Office

Calgary is a large [2.2 million people in the greater Calgary area] city and very culturally diverse.  The three main languages spoken here are English, Spanish, and Mandarin [who would have thunk it], and then there is French.  The people are very friendly and helpful [which has been a big help to us].

We are only about 8 minutes away from the Canada Calgary Mission Office where we work.  We arrive every day at 8 am and work until 5 pm.  Although the work isn't hard, it is very tiring, especially since I haven't worked full time for ten years and both of us are struggling to learn everything in a short amount of time.  It's going better every day though.
We work with another senior couple who are from Centerville, Utah.

Elder Lawler is responsible for all the cars/trucks used in the mission. He assigns cars to the missionaries, then supervises maintenance and upkeep, tires, gas cards, etc.  Of course, there are accidents and traffic tickets, so when they occur, he has to help resolve them with the authorities.  Sister Lawler tracks all medical services for the missionaries, orders all the missionary and office supplies, and manages referrals.  We enjoy working with them.
