Transfers, and Departing Missionaries

When new missionaries arrive it is our job to make sure everything goes smoothly.  We have to make arrangements to pick them up from the airport, help them through customs, gather up all their baggage, load missionaries and bags in the vans/trailers and transport them back to the chapel for orientation/dinner/new assignments.  We also have to ensure that every missionary ends up with the proper companion, keys to his/her apartment, a cell phone, and their missionary debit and health cards.

Elder Bryant came up with a system of marked baggies for the old missionaries to deposit their car and apartment keys and cell phones in as they entered the building so they didn't take off for their new assignments with someone else's stuff [which happened last transfer].

The day after arrivals, we have a farewell fireside for missionaries who have completed their service and are going home.  We have a short program where each missionary has an opportunity to speak briefly followed by a reception with refreshments.

The entire chapel is usually packed with people whose lives have been touched by the missionaries during their two years of service.  We are responsible for providing and serving the refreshments.
